Q:

What kind of software / operating system is required to run a webcast  ?

  A:

Microsoft Windows Media player version 6.4 or greater (version 9.0 is reccommended) and Internet Explorer version 5.5 or greater.

  Q:

Can I use the same link for the archive as I do for the live webcast ?

  A:

Yes you can, ViaVid's DataCasting Engine (DCE) handles all the traffic redirection for live or replay events.

  Q:

How soon prior to a webcast should I log in ?

  A:

Events are live approximately 10 minutes prior to an event.  So if you login 5 minutes before the event you should be ready for when the event starts.

  Q:

How do I find my archived events on your website ?

  A:

From the top menu bar under the ViaVid graphic select the Events button, then browse through the list or enter the company name in the search text box and click on the search button to narrow down the list of events.

  Q:

How do I access my registration stats ?

  A:

You should have received a password to login to http://viatracker.viavid.net . If you have lost or forgotten your password please call 1-888-562-0262 or by email us for your login information.

  Q:

How long does it take for a webcast to be archived ?

  A:

Webcasts are usually archived 15 minutes after an event ends.

  Q:

How can I get help from ViaVid ?

  A:

Either by phone at 1-888-562-0262 or by email

  Q:

Why can't I hear anything when I join a webcast ?

  A:

There are several reasons why this could happen:

  • The event you are trying to join is not currently available
  • You need to increase the volume of your computer
  • Your computer does not have the right codec

  •   Q:

What is a codec and how do I get it ?

      A:

With Windows Media player all audio / video content is sent to the viewers computer as a coded stream.  This coded stream is called a codec and the codec is used to de-code the stream on the viewers computer.  So to get a codec restart your computer and click on the event you are trying to listen to and watch closely for any pop up or question box asking you to download the codec.  Make sure that you answer "yes" to downloading the codec, otherwise the event wont play for you.  You can also go to the Windows Media download site and download codecs from there.

      Q:

How can I tell the status of an event?

      A:

On the event detail page under the webcast or presentation header you will find a line of text that says: This event is currently Offline, Online or Live

  • Offline means that this event is not currently available
  • Online means that a replay of the event is currently available
  • Live means the event is currently in progress

  •   Q:

Why do I  keep returning to the registration page after I register ?

      A:

There are several potential issues that are keeping you from registering from an event:

  • You don't have cookies enabled (Configure you web browser to allow cookies) Check out our browser compatibility test page
  • You may have to fill in all the registration fields (check the bottom of the registration page for details)

  •   Q:

    Why does ViaVid use cookies?

      A:

ViaVid uses session cookies (nothing is saved after you close your web browser) for registration purposes to ensure that if our clients want registration people dont sneak by the registration.  ViaVid does not use this information for any purposes other than to provide the event registration back to the company that is running the event.  This information is not used in whole or in part by ViaVid.
